Custom cabinetry, hand-built · Nampa, Idaho

Idaho's fourth-generation
custom cabinet shop.

For forty years our shop on Kings Road has built kitchens, baths, built-ins and great rooms for the most demanding home-builders in the Treasure Valley.

We use solid wood face frames. Dovetailed drawer boxes. A finish put on by hand. The way it has been done in this family for four generations.

The Porter Story

A trade passed down,
four generations deep.

Luke Porter grew up in the shop. He swept sawdust at six, ran the edge-bander at fifteen, and joined his father Tom as a partner in 2009. In 2015, when Tom transitioned to semi-retirement, Luke took the keys.

What began in 1986 as a one-man bench has grown into an eighteen-person shop on ten thousand square feet of working floor. But the standard hasn't moved. Solid wood face frame. Dovetailed drawer box. Hand-rubbed finish. The same three rules every Porter has worked to.

"A kitchen should outlive the house it sits in." — that's the line Luke's grandfather kept on the bench. It is still there.

From the build floor

Real rooms,
recently installed.

Every project starts as drawings on butcher paper and ends as cabinetry meant to hold a family's life for thirty years. These are real Porter installs across the Treasure Valley and the McCall mountains — photographed in the homes, not staged in a studio.

How a Porter kitchen is built

Six steps. Sixteen weeks.
A lifetime of warranty.

From the first home visit to the last drawer pull — here is the path your project will take.

01
Consultation
Week 1
We meet at your home or our Nampa shop. Floor plans, inspiration, lifestyle.
You bring the dream and the rough measurements; we bring the questions you didn't know to ask. There is no charge for the first conversation.
02
Measure
Week 2
Our lead craftsman comes on-site with laser, story-pole, and a steel rule.
Every wall, every plumbing rough-in, every floor dip is recorded. We measure twice because we cut once.
03
Design
Weeks 3 – 6
CAD elevations, real wood samples, hardware on the table.
Two design rounds standard. We hand you wood blocks, drawer pulls, and finish chips so you can see them in your home's morning light.
04
Build
Weeks 8 – 16
Solid wood face frame. Dovetailed drawer box. Hand-rubbed finish.
Each cabinet is built by name in our Nampa shop. Drawer boxes are dovetailed; face frames are pocket-screwed and pinned.
05
Install
Week 17
Two-man install crew. Site protection, scribe-fit, dust control.
Our installers protect floors and walls, scribe filler strips to the millimeter, and clean up nightly. Most kitchens install in five to seven working days.
06
Warranty
Forever
If it warps, splits, or fails — we come back.
Lifetime warranty on construction for the original homeowner. Slides and hinges, ten years. Finishes carry a three-year warranty against checking and lift.
